Lyta Threatens to Quit Music Over Low Streams, Appeals to Fans for Support
Nigerian Afrobeats singer Babatunde Rahim, popularly known as Lyta, has issued a heartfelt plea to his fans, saying he may stop making music if they do not start streaming his songs.
In a candid Instagram live session, the former YBNL signee revealed that he is struggling financially and expressed frustration over the lack of support for his recent releases.
“I can make more good music,” Lyta said. “But if you don’t stream what I’ve already dropped, I won’t release another one. I’m really in need of money.”
The singer, who appeared visibly distressed during the session, added with a touch of humour: “Look at how slim I am. I want to gain weight. Let me enjoy your money a little. If you stream my music, I’ll add weight.”
Lyta rose to fame in 2018 under Olamide’s YBNL Nation but parted ways with the label in 2019 following a disagreement. In past interviews, he expressed regret over the fallout and even publicly appealed to Olamide for a second chance – a request that was never granted.
His latest comments reflect the ongoing challenges faced by independent artists in Nigeria’s competitive music scene, where streaming numbers can make or break a career.
