Matt Berry Set to Star in Minecraft Film

Matt Berry is currently in negotiations to star in the upcoming ‘Minecraft’ movie alongside Jason Momoa. The film adaptation of the popular video game is set to be released in April 2025, although details about the plot and Matt’s role have yet to be disclosed.

Directed by Jared Hess for Warner Bros., the studio hopes that the ‘Minecraft’ movie will achieve the success of other successful video game adaptations like ‘Detective Pikachu’ and ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’. The project was first announced in 2014 and has seen various directors attached to it before departing.

Since its initial release in 2011, ‘Minecraft’ has become a global phenomenon, selling over 200 million copies worldwide. In addition to his potential involvement in the movie, Matt Berry is known for his role as vampire Laszlo Cravensworth in the comedy horror series ‘What We Do in the Shadows’.

During the recent BAFTA TV Awards, Matt expressed some uncertainty about his future on the show, mentioning the physical demands of the role. However, he humorously noted that being undead should exempt him from normal rules. Regarding the duration of the series, Matt mentioned that the decision is not up to him and that they are about to film the sixth season, with the fourth season currently available on Disney+.

As the ‘Minecraft’ movie continues to develop, fans eagerly await further updates on the casting and storyline.
