Mayorkun Stuns with ‘Lose Control’ at Coke Studio Africa 2023

Nigerian Afrobeat sensation Mayorkun recently delivered a show-stopping performance of “Lose Control” on the grand stage of Coke Studio Africa 2023. This platform brings together artists from diverse genres, eras, and regions, allowing them to create a contemporary and authentic musical fusion through captivating mash-ups.

Coke Studio Africa has a rich history of hosting some of the continent’s most prominent musicians. Iconic names like 2Baba, Waje, Patoranking, Cynthia Morgan, Falz, Kizz Daniel, and Simi have graced its stage, showcasing the immense talent that Africa has to offer.

Mayorkun’s journey in the music industry is nothing short of remarkable. He initially caught the spotlight with his cover of Davido’s hit single, “Money,” which garnered the attention of the original artist himself, who discovered Mayorkun’s talent on Twitter. This chance encounter marked the inception of a flourishing career.

In 2016, Mayorkun signed a deal with Davido’s record label, DMW, and released his debut single, “Eleko,” which swiftly ascended the charts and solidified his position in the music scene. The artist continued to impress, and in November 2018, he unveiled his first studio album, “The Mayor of Lagos.”

However, a significant change was on the horizon for Mayorkun. In 2021, he decided to part ways with DMW, taking control of his destiny in the music industry. This newfound independence allowed him to explore his musical horizons even further. He marked this transition with the release of “Let Me Know” and the launch of his second studio album, “Back In Office,” in October 2021. Under the Sony Music West Africa division, Mayorkun continues to make waves and connect with a broader audience, solidifying his position as a prominent figure in the industry.
