Meet the REV-9 Laptop: A Monster with a 64-Core CPU, Full Liquid Cooling System, and a Desktop RTX 4080
Chinese laptop manufacturer Zhanjiang Xinjuneng has introduced the REV-9, a powerhouse laptop that prioritizes raw computing power over sleek design. Touted as the first laptop featuring a 64-core CPU, the REV-9 boasts an AMD Epyc CPU, a full liquid cooling system, and a desktop-class RTX 4080, making it a formidable contender for users seeking unparalleled performance.
The REV-9 is available in two configurations, equipped with either a Zen 3-based Epyc 7713 CPU or a Zen 4 Epyc 9554. These server-grade processors, known for their high heat output and robust capabilities (up to 360W TDP), are typically reserved for specialized applications due to their expense. Zhanjiang Xinjuneng addresses this challenge by incorporating what is claimed to be the world’s first built-in split liquid cooling system, complete with a high-pressure water pump and water tank. The system also features a substantial copper radiator, ensuring effective cooling for the powerful CPU.
The laptop’s impressive performance is highlighted by its reported Cinebench R23 result of 49,000 using the 225W Epyc 7713, showcasing the efficacy of the advanced cooling system.
In addition to the groundbreaking CPU, the REV-9 is equipped with a desktop-class RTX 4080, surpassing the capabilities of mobile counterparts by 15%. The graphics card can reportedly be upgraded to the unreleased RTX 4080 Super, rumored to launch on January 31.
Display options include a 17.3-inch 2.5K screen with a 240Hz refresh rate and full sRGB color gamut coverage or a 4K 120Hz alternative. The laptop features a dedicated 3.5-inch screen for displaying vital statistics such as temperatures. Furthermore, users benefit from dual 10 Gbit Ethernet cards and an IPMI 2.0 interface.
Given its desktop-like hardware, the REV-9 prioritizes performance over portability, measuring 420mm x 325mm x 46mm. While the weight remains undisclosed, the laptop is expected to have a substantial heft.
The REV-9 will be exclusively available on Taobao starting December 19, offering color options such as gold, silver, rose gold, blue, purple, and red. While the pricing details are yet to be disclosed, the high cost of the Epyc 9554, estimated at around $9,000, suggests that the REV-9 will cater to users seeking uncompromising performance with a premium price tag.
