MI on the Same Level With Any Rapper in the World – Ice Prince

Nigerian Hip-Hop sensation, Ice Prince Zamani, has showered praise on his former record label mate, M.I. Abaga, placing him in the same league as the world’s greatest rappers. According to Ice Prince, M.I. Abaga’s influence and mentorship played a pivotal role in shaping his career.

During a recent appearance on the Fresh Off The Boat Podcast, the ‘Oleku’ crooner passionately expressed his admiration for M.I. Abaga, asserting, “I can put M.I. next to any rapper in the world. He made us study the game a lot. He played a huge role in my life.”

Not stopping there, Ice Prince further lauded veteran Nigerian rapper, Modenine, hailing him as the best metaphorical rapper the world has ever seen. Clearly, Ice Prince holds a deep appreciation for the talent and impact of these revered figures in the Nigerian music scene.

However, amidst the accolades, Ice Prince voiced concern about the increasing dominance of foreign record labels in the Nigerian music industry. He called on veteran music executives within the country to take a more active role in fostering the growth of homegrown talent and ensuring that the industry remains vibrant and thriving.

As Ice Prince reminisced about the pivotal roles M.I. Abaga and Modenine played in his own journey, he highlighted the need for continued support and mentorship for the next generation of Nigerian musicians. With his own success as a testament, Ice Prince’s words carry weight and add to the ongoing conversation about the future of Nigerian music and its global impact.

He said, “Our OGs like Obi Asika, Audu Maikori, Kenny Ogungbe and Segun Demuren need to have their foothold in the game. We need them as much as we need these international labels.”
