Microsoft Launches Xbox Mastercard Nationwide, Offering Exclusive Rewards to US Residents

Microsoft’s highly anticipated Xbox Mastercard, initially unveiled last year, has officially launched nationwide, extending its enticing benefits to all eligible US residents.

Following a successful pilot phase with members of the Xbox Insider program, the Xbox Mastercard is now accessible to individuals aged 18 and above across all 50 states. Issued in partnership with Barclays, the credit card offers an array of perks without any annual fee, catering to gaming enthusiasts and everyday consumers alike.

Cardholders can earn reward points on a wide range of purchases, spanning Microsoft Store products, popular food delivery services like Grubhub and DoorDash, streaming platforms including Netflix and Disney, and various everyday expenses.

Exciting new benefits accompany the full rollout, including the gifting of two Game Pass Ultimate codes, allowing recipients to enjoy three months of the service. Moreover, cardholders receive an expedited upgrade to Level 2 of Microsoft Rewards, complimentary three-month access to Spotify Premium Individual, and expanded redemption options encompassing Xbox consoles, accessories, and more.

Additional incentives, such as a generous one-time bonus of 5,000 points ($50 value) after the initial purchase, further sweeten the deal. Card customization options, featuring five distinct designs and the option to personalize with a Gamertag, enhance the user experience.

Support for contactless payments and digital wallets ensures convenience and versatility in payment methods. Furthermore, Mastercard provides robust security measures, including $0 Fraud Liability protection, ID Theft Protection, and Global Services for emergency assistance. Cardholders also gain complimentary access to their FICO Credit Score online.

Barclays has opted for a fee structure based on the user’s credit score, with an Annual Percentage Rate (APR) ranging from 20.99 per cent to 29.99 per cent. Various transaction fees apply, including a 5 per cent balance transfer fee, a 5 per cent cash advance fee, and a 3 per cent foreign transaction fee in US dollars. Late payments incur a fee of up to $41.

With its enticing rewards and user-friendly features, the Xbox Mastercard represents a significant milestone in Microsoft’s consumer engagement strategy, offering a seamless blend of gaming and financial benefits to cardholders nationwide.
