Mohbad’s Father Claims He Paid N16 Million for Second Autopsy
Joseph Aloba, father of the late Nigerian singer Mohbad, has claimed he paid a pathologist N16 million for an independent autopsy on his son’s body.
Aloba made the disclosure during a recent live session on TikTok, insisting that he personally covered the cost of the second autopsy and additional expenses. “With all sincerity, I paid the first tranche of N16 million to the pathologist. After that, I spent close to N2 million,” he said. “If the pathologist can come out to deny my claim, then don’t believe me again.”
Responding to speculation about the actual amount, he added: “Some people were saying it was N12 million that I paid, but I’m still telling you now that I paid N16 million.”
This revelation comes a month after an independent forensic medical review conducted by Dr. Uwom Eze failed to establish the exact cause of Mohbad’s death.
In June 2024, a coroner’s court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, presided over by Magistrate T.A. Shotobi, granted Aloba permission to engage a licensed pathologist to carry out an independent autopsy following public interest in the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death.
Mohbad, born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, passed away in September 2023 under controversial circumstances, prompting national outcry and calls for a thorough investigation.
