Muni Long Shares Story of Penning Rihanna Hit in Just 10 Minutes

In a recent interview with Complex, rising artist Muni Long revealed a remarkable anecdote from her career, disclosing that she wrote a song for Rihanna in a mere 10 minutes, likening the process to the time it takes to warm up a baked potato.

Long recounted the swift creation of the track during a studio session in Miami, where she collaborated with Jermaine Jackson from The Runners. While working on “California King Bed” at We The Best studio, Long was provided with chords for the song, which she swiftly turned into a potential hit for Rihanna.

Despite the rapid pace of the songwriting process, Long effortlessly crafted the tune while simultaneously multitasking, as she admitted to shopping for furniture online during the session. This led to the inspiration behind the track’s title.

Originally intended for Kelly Clarkson, the song later caught the attention of Rihanna’s team, who expressed interest in recording it. Long expressed her excitement upon learning that Rihanna would potentially be the one to bring her creation to life.

This revelation comes amidst other recent developments in Long’s career, notably her public frustration with her label’s decision to remove their music from TikTok. In a TikTok video posted on January 31, Long voiced her concerns, suggesting that the move could be detrimental to her career and expressing feelings of sabotage.

Long’s story underscores the rapid pace and unpredictability of the music industry, where a creative spark can lead to monumental opportunities in just minutes. As she continues to navigate the complexities of the industry, Long’s talent and determination remain evident, promising even greater achievements in the future.
