My Children Asking Why They Have Different Mothers – Davido
Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has spoken about the challenges of raising children from different relationships, revealing that some of them have started asking difficult questions as they grow older.
In an interview with the BBC, the singer said his two eldest daughters, Imade and Hailey, have become curious about why they have different mothers and why they do not all live together with him.
“My children are coming of age and they have started asking why they have different moms and why don’t they live with me and stuff that kids ask,” Davido said.
The award-winning artiste also shared how his personal life sometimes intersects with his public image, recalling a conversation with his first daughter after she saw one of his performances on television.
“One day, my first daughter walked up to me and said, ‘Daddy, I saw you on TV holding and dancing with two girls’,” he said.
Davido said he makes a conscious effort to remain actively involved in the lives of all his children despite the family dynamics.
The singer is a father of six children with different partners. He and his wife, Chioma Adeleke, are parents to twins and previously lost their son, Ifeanyi, in 2022.
His other children include Imade, born in 2015 to Sophia Momodu; Hailey Veronica Adeleke, born in 2017 to Amanda; and Dawson Adeleke, born in 2020 to model Larissa Yasmin Lorenco.
