Nicki Minaj Fans Upset With Drake for Breaking Promise to the Barbz
Nicki Minaj’s devoted fanbase, known as the Barbz, is expressing their disappointment as they notice her absence from Drake’s newly released album, “For All The Dogs.”
Drake’s highly anticipated album, “For All The Dogs,” made its debut on Friday, October 6, boasting an array of A-list collaborations, including artists such as J. Cole, 21 Savage, and more. However, conspicuously missing from the lineup is Nicki Minaj, despite earlier promises of her involvement.
The anticipation for a Nicki Minaj feature on Drake’s album began in July when the Canadian rapper made the announcement during a tour stop in Detroit. Drake expressed his excitement about their collaboration, stating, “Me and Nicki Minaj did our first song together in, like, a really long time.” He further emphasized his affection for Nicki and suggested that their track was a significant highlight.
Nicki Minaj also shared her enthusiasm for the collaboration during a livestream in August, reminiscing about the “fun times” they had during their Young Money days. She hinted that the song would transport fans back to the lively atmosphere of that era.
Despite these earlier assurances, Nicki Minaj’s absence from “For All The Dogs” has left her fans disappointed. Some had hoped that the collaboration would materialize on her upcoming album, “Pink Friday 2,” scheduled for release on November 17. However, in an interview with Zane Lowe in September, Nicki explicitly mentioned the collaboration on Drake’s album and expressed her eagerness for his contribution to her own project.
The situation has led to frustration among some Barbz, with one fan expressing their disappointment on social media, stating, “@NICKIMINAJ istg if it was Drake and you EVER are cool again then you don’t respect yourself or deserve any respect because you need to ditch his weirdo ass permanently.”
“Drake’s secret animosity towards Nicki Minaj is crazy,” another said. One fan even went so far as to make a thread about how Drake “used” Nicki for the rollout, which you can read below.
