Nicki Minaj Misses Out on Grammy Award Nomination Yet Again
American rapper, Nicki Minaj has missed out on a Grammy Award nomination for her song Super Freaky Girl, following the rapper’s criticism of the awards categories on Twitter last month.
As reported by HITC, Minaj, who has received 10 Grammy nominations during her musical career, hit out at the awards in October after revealing that her song was moved from the rap category into the pop category for consideration, a decision she did not agree with.
As the awards for the 2023 Grammy Awards were announced, it became apparent that Minaj had failed to receive any nominations this year. Fans of Minaj, known as “Barbz” shared their thoughts on the situation, and they were not happy.
In October, Minaj took to Twitter to express her upset over her song, Super Freaky Girl, being moved into the Grammy Awards’ pop song category for consideration.
She compared her song to Latto’s Big Energy, and explained that if SFG had to be moved out of the rap category then so did Big Energy. Minaj claimed that anyone who says differently is “a Nicki hater or a troll.”
Discussing her criticism with E! News, Minaj said that she owns the right to speak on her own workplace.
“You know why?” she said, “I sit down myself. I put together my own music. I write my own songs. I sit there with every mix of the song, the master. I am so much more into music than just a few raps or lines on the song.”
