Nigerian Idol Haven’t Paid Me Prize Money Ten Years After – K-Peace Drags Organisers
Kunle Ogunrombi, popularly known as K-Peace, has accused the organizers of Nigerian Idol of failing to deliver the prize money he won on the show nearly a decade ago.
K-Peace, who emerged as the winner of the Etisalat-sponsored Nigerian Idol Season 5 in 2015, made the revelation during an interview on the Honest Bunch Podcast with Nedu Wazobia.
In a viral video circulating on social media, the singer expressed his frustration, claiming that the prizes announced during the show were never fulfilled.
“I walked out of Nigerian Idol with zero naira in my account,” he said. Speaking in pidgin English, he added, “As the winner, I was going around Lagos for interviews without food in my stomach, despite being told I had won N7.5 million.”
According to K-Peace, when he inquired about his winnings, he was given excuses. “They told me they were still branding the car. But on national TV, they announced I had won N7.5 million, a brand-new car, and a two-week trip to Dubai. I went through hell after winning the show.”
Nigerian Idol, a popular music talent show, has yet to respond to the allegations.
