Nigerian Singer Chike Silences Twitter Troll with ₦1 Million Transfer

Nigerian singer Chike made headlines after responding to a Twitter troll in an unexpected way—by transferring ₦1 million to the user who had attempted to undermine his success.

The incident occurred on the night of August 13, 2024, when a Twitter user accused Chike of gaining fame solely through his collaboration with the late singer Mohbad on the song “Egwu.” The troll commented, “Mohbad made you,” in an attempt to diminish Chike’s achievements.

Rather than responding with hostility, Chike initially replied with a sharp but composed retort: “Your mother made you.” This sparked a heated exchange, with the troll continuing to insist that Chike owed his success to the late Mohbad, stating, “True but Mohbad made you dawg.”

Chike, maintaining his composure, reiterated, “Your mother made you, but I hope you find someone to MAKE you coz I don’t see you doing it yourself. Jesus stays king.” Despite the troll’s persistence, Chike remained unshaken.

In a surprising turn, Chike asked the troll for his bank account details and transferred ₦1 million, dubbing him “Hunger Boy.” He remarked, “Now I doubt your mother even made you right. If she didn’t teach you manners she should have taught you research. I will send you like 1M now, make hunger comot your eye make you see road but your account fit collapse. Let the good guy rest in peace. I know say na hunger. Hunger boy, Oya and eat.”

Chike’s unexpected response quickly went viral, sparking mixed reactions across social media. While some praised his approach to handling the situation, others criticized him for seemingly rewarding negative behavior.

The incident has since fueled discussions on social media about the best ways to deal with online negativity and the implications of responding to trolls with monetary rewards.
