Nile Entertainment Launches Film Distribution with ‘Wives on Strike 3’ as First Title
Nile Entertainment has officially entered the film distribution arena, with its Group CEO, Moses Babatope, announcing the company’s first distributed film, The Uprising: Wives on Strike 3. Babatope shared the news on his Instagram account on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, marking a significant milestone for the company.
“I’m thrilled to announce a major milestone for @thenileentertainment – the teaser launch of our very first title under our distribution arm!” Babatope wrote, expressing excitement for the project, which he described as a “labour of love” from director Omoni Oboli. This film marks Oboli’s return to the big screen after a five-year hiatus and coincides with her 10th year as a director.
The Wives on Strike franchise, which began in 2016 and saw its first sequel Wives on Strike: The Revolution released in 2018, is known for its satirical take on serious social issues. The films follow a group of women who initiate a sex strike to pressure their husbands into advocating for the rights of a young girl forced into marriage. The story, while humorous, also tackles broader issues of gender-based violence and societal expectations.
Babatope emphasized that Nile Entertainment’s mission is to tell powerful, immersive stories that resonate with audiences. The film features a star-studded cast, including Chioma Akpotha, Uche Jombo, Omoni Oboli, Ufuoma McDermott, Hilda Dokubo, Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori (KieKie), and May Yul-Edochie, promising a dynamic and engaging continuation of the beloved franchise.
