Cardi B Confirms New Album Will Drop in 2024, Says it’s Just ‘Missing a Couple of Things’

Cardi B has some exciting news for her devoted fan base, the Bardi Gang, as she gears up for the release of her highly anticipated sophomore album, scheduled to drop in the upcoming year.

During a recent interview with Ebro in the Morning, the celebrated New York rapper was probed about the specifics of her forthcoming album, to which she playfully admitted that she had been hesitant to divulge details, citing a feeling of constant scrutiny. Nevertheless, she decided it was time to start discussing the album, as its release is drawing near.

Cardi B stated, “You know what? I was indecisive, but I was like, you know what? I should already start talking about the album because I’m going to be putting it out very soon.” However, she added, “But it’s like I have to watch it because I always feel like somebody’s watching me — it’s going to come out when it’s going to come out.”

When questioned about whether the album would be released before the end of the year, particularly before Christmas, Cardi B continued to maintain an air of mystery, remarking, “I can say that; it’s not going to come out this year.”

Later in the interview, Ebro attempted to discern whether the rumours of Taylor Swift releasing another album this fall influenced Cardi’s decision to promote her upcoming project. Cardi B explained, “I wasn’t even thinking like that — my first album and everything — I just like, for this album, I’m just holding it because I feel like I’m missing a couple of things.” She expressed her desire for perfection, given the high expectations surrounding her sophomore effort.

Cardi also revealed that after the release of her debut album, “Invasion of Privacy,” she missed out on several things she wanted to do, such as shooting music videos and going on tour, as she was “super duper pregnant” at the time.

In a separate interview with DJ Whoo Kid, Cardi hinted that she has a specific release date and title in mind for the album but chose to keep it a secret. She mentioned, “I’m kinda still working, but I have a date in mind.” When asked if Beyoncé sending her flowers on her birthday hinted at a collaboration on the album, Cardi replied, “It’s not coming out on my birthday. Matter of fact, I don’t want anything coming out in the month of October. October is my month. I don’t want any work-related stuff in October, okay.”

In the meantime, Cardi B has continued to keep her fans entertained with new music, teaming up once again with Megan Thee Stallion for a lively track titled “Bongos.” This marks their second collaboration, following the record-breaking hit “WAP” in 2020, which became the first female rap collaboration to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
