Antony Breaks Down in Tears as He Claims Innocence
Manchester United’s midfielder, Antony, has addressed the recent allegations of domestic and physical abuse made against him by three women, providing his perspective on the matter during an appearance on a Brazilian television program.
The 23-year-old Brazilian footballer appeared on the Fofocalizando program in his home country to speak candidly about the accusations that have surfaced in recent weeks. He vehemently denied any wrongdoing and asserted that he has never engaged in any form of physical violence against women throughout his life.
During the interview, Antony became emotional as he discussed the allegations made by his former girlfriend, Gabriela Cavallin. She claimed to have experienced multiple instances of assault between June 2022 and May of the current year.
In addition to Gabriela’s allegations, two other women, Rayssa de Freitas and Ingrid Lana, came forward with similar claims against the footballer.
Antony provided his account of the events, stating, “This was what happened: I left training in the morning, got my car, and went to the hotel where she was staying. We had lunch together, like normal. We chatted, like normal. All calm.” He mentioned that conflicts arose when he needed to leave, which seemed to irritate her. Antony explained that during an argument, he attempted to calm the situation when she became physically aggressive. He denied any headbutting incident and emphasized that he did not harm her.
Rayssa de Freitas filed a police complaint on May 20, 2022, alleging that she required hospital treatment after an incident in Antony’s car involving another woman and a hairdresser following a nightclub visit in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Ingrid Lana also accused the footballer of pushing her against a wall and attempting to engage in sexual activity during a visit to his house in October 2022.
When asked about Ingrid Lana’s accusation, Antony firmly denied any wrongdoing, stating, “Negative. Negative. I’m 100 per cent certain that I never touched any woman. 100 per cent. I am certain. I will produce the proof, and people will understand. They will see the truth.”
Antony reiterated his innocence, stressing, “Never, I never have and I never will,” when questioned about assaulting any woman.
In response to these allegations, the Brazilian Football Association (FA) has suspended Antony from the national team pending the conclusion of investigations. Manchester United, his club, is closely monitoring the situation and will make decisions accordingly as more information becomes available.
