Nike Unveils Sneak Peek of the Pegasus Plus: A Blend of Innovation and Style
Nike enthusiasts are in for a treat as the iconic Pegasus series gears up for a landmark year of groundbreaking innovation. Building upon the success of the Pegasus 41 and the Pegasus Premium, Nike introduces a third model to its 2024 Pegasus lineup — the Pegasus Plus.
While Nike’s recent On Air presentation in Paris and press releases omitted any mention of the Pegasus Plus, sneaker aficionados have reason to be intrigued. Positioned between the Pegasus 41 and Premium, the Pegasus Plus promises to deliver an exciting fusion of cushioning technology and style.
A glance at the Pegasus Plus reveals striking resemblances to the acclaimed Zoom Pegasus Turbo of 2018. Notably, the forefoot of the bottom soles proudly displays the “Pegasus Turbo” insignia, paying homage to its predecessor, while the year of the Zoom Pegasus Turbo’s release is discreetly printed behind the tongue. Moreover, signature design elements such as the bold racing stripe and enlarged Swoosh, reminiscent of the Zoom Pegasus Turbo, make a striking return in the Pegasus Plus, with the stripe ingeniously incorporated into the Flyknit upper.
Central to the allure of the Pegasus Plus is its cushioning platform, which mirrors the groundbreaking ZoomX technology introduced with the Zoom Pegasus Turbo. While details regarding the exact composition of the cushioning system remain undisclosed, speculation suggests the presence of Zoom Air pods within the foam. Drawing inspiration from the innovative Tuned Air cushioning unit featured in the Air Max Plus, the Pegasus Plus is anticipated to introduce its own distinctive iteration of the ZoomX unit, potentially featuring a customized foam layout.
Although Nike has yet to provide release date information, the unveiling of five distinct women’s colorways hints at an imminent launch, likely slated for the summer season alongside the highly anticipated release of the Pegasus 41.
