Nike Want Barcelona Target to Take #10 Jersey From Ansu Fati After Lionel Messi Snubbed Move – Reports

Nike is reportedly eyeing Vitor Roque to become Barcelona’s new No.10 after Lionel Messi rejected a return to the club. The sportswear brand aims to boost shirt sales, which declined after Ansu Fati inherited the iconic jersey following Messi’s departure in 2021.

Barcelona’s president and director are looking to relieve Fati of the pressure associated with the No.10 role after a challenging season both on and off the pitch.

While the No.10 jersey will be vacant, it won’t be filled by Lionel Messi, who has chosen to join Inter Miami in MLS, snubbing a reunion with Barcelona.

With Roque nearing a move to Camp Nou, Nike sees an opportunity for the young striker to wear the prestigious No.10. Barcelona is closing in on signing Roque from Athletico Paranaense for a fee of €35 million plus €10 million in add-ons.

At just 18 years old, Roque is considered one of the most promising forwards in the world, having scored 11 goals in 26 games in Brazil.

Following in the footsteps of Barcelona legends like Messi, Maradona, and Laudrup, Roque could be on the path to becoming a global star, featuring prominently in Barcelona manager Xavi’s plans for the future.

After leaving Barcelona in 2021, Lionel Messi joined Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) on a two-year deal. His time at PSG was marred by a strained relationship with the fans, as he struggled to fully adapt to life in Paris.

Despite winning two Ligue 1 titles with PSG, Messi faced criticism and boos from certain sections of the crowd, leading to a strained relationship. However, he still appreciates the support he received from the fans who stood by him. Messi departed PSG with 32 goals and 35 assists in 75 games across competitions.
