Nike, YouTube, and Fenty Reign as Top “Cool Brands” Among Gen Z and Millennials

A recent survey conducted by YPulse, a leading youth research organization, has unveiled the top “cool brands” that resonate with Gen Z and millennial consumers, with Nike, YouTube, and Fenty taking the lead.

The survey highlights the significant influence of celebrities and influencers in shaping the perceived coolness of brands among 13 to 39-year-olds, particularly in today’s social media-driven marketplace. According to MaryLeigh Bliss, YPulse’s chief content officer, brands endorsed by celebrities often receive an instant boost in coolness due to their association with popular figures.

For 18 to 39-year-olds, Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty and Savage X Fenty emerged as standout brands, celebrated for their quality and inclusivity. Similarly, Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS witnessed a surge in popularity, reflecting the growing impact of celebrity-led brands.

YPulse’s report, tracking consumer sentiment towards over 1,200 brands, identifies Nike, YouTube, and Fenty as the top picks across different age groups. The brands’ ability to innovate, stay relevant, and embrace trends has solidified their cool status among consumers.

Young people and brands

Nike, in particular, stands out as a symbol of luxury athleisure, resonating with young consumers as a high-end sportswear choice. Apple also maintains its cool factor through continuous innovation, with products like iPhone, AirPods, and Apple Pay remaining highly regarded among Gen Z and millennials.

Tech giants like PlayStation, Amazon, Cash App, and Instagram are also noted for their coolness, reflecting the influence of technology and experiential offerings in shaping consumer perceptions.

Overall, the survey underscores the importance of brands’ adaptability and willingness to experiment in capturing the attention and loyalty of today’s consumers. As consumer preferences evolve, brands across various industries have the opportunity to tap into the concept of coolness to drive engagement and relevance in the market.
