NIVEA Empowers Child Cancer Survivors with ₦16.4 Million Back-to-School Fund

In a remarkable act of compassion and social responsibility, Beiersdorf Nigeria, makers of NIVEA, has partnered with The Dorcas Cancer Foundation to support child cancer survivors with a ₦16.4 million back-to-school fund.

The initiative, dubbed the Back-to-School Fund, will provide tuition, uniforms, books, and other essentials for 15 children for an entire academic year. More than a financial gesture, the campaign aims to rebuild dreams, restore hope, and offer a fresh start to children whose education has been disrupted by cancer treatment.

Speaking on the initiative, Oladele Adeyole, Country Manager for Beiersdorf Nigeria, emphasised the company’s commitment to creating meaningful change.

“Beiersdorf believes in fostering a more inclusive society and creating a positive impact. This is why our ‘Care Beyond Skin’ agenda exists – to drive both social and environmental change.

“Our partnership with The Dorcas Cancer Foundation is a testament to this commitment. We understand that many children miss school during cancer treatment, and the financial burden often makes it difficult for them to return even after recovery. This fund is our way of helping them rebuild their futures,” Adeyole stated.

The funds were raised during a three-month campaign from September to November 2024, during which Beiersdorf pledged ₦300 from every NIVEA product sold at major retailers like Shoprite, Justrite, Market Square, Next Cash & Carry, and Hyper City. The result was a total of ₦16,456,500, all directed towards supporting the children’s education.

Dr. Adedayo Joseph, Founder of The Dorcas Cancer Foundation, expressed deep gratitude for the initiative, highlighting its life-changing impact on the children and their families.

“Thank you, Beiersdorf, for sharing our vision and choosing to invest in it. This support is a tremendous gift to the families who will benefit. It’s a reminder of the power of collective action and compassion,” Dr. Joseph said.
