Odumodublvck Sparks Backlash with Controversial Lyrics on Shallipopi’s ‘Cast’

Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, is facing a wave of criticism from female fans over the contentious lyrics of his latest collaboration with Shallipopi titled ‘Cast.’

The lyrics in question have ignited a heated exchange on social media, with several female listeners expressing their displeasure at Odumodublvck’s remarks on women’s financial dependence. The specific lyrics that triggered the controversy are, “If she no sck o, if she no fck, who go pay for her wig and handbag.”

One Twitter user, @Tiana_kriss, condemned the song as the most disturbing she had heard all year. She called on women to prioritize financial independence, stating, “I need my ladies to work hard and get their money up so no loser will tell you this kind of cr*p.”

In response to @Tiana_kriss’s criticism, Odumodublvck opted for a retaliatory approach. He shared a past tweet from the user advising women to let men pay for their expenses, captioning it with “Wahala” and highlighting @Tiana_kriss’s previous statement.

Another user, @ore_akiinde, joined the conversation, criticizing Odumodublvck’s response to the woman’s complaint. @ore_akiinde pointed out, “A woman is complaining that your lyrics are degrading to women, and your luminous idea is to sl*t shame her as a response. Very telling.” In a similar fashion, Odumodublvck fired back by sharing a screenshot of @ore_akiinde seemingly endorsing the rapper’s lyrics in a playful manner.

The social media exchange has sparked a broader discourse on the representation of women in music and the responsibility artists carry in influencing societal attitudes. Critics argue that Odumodublvck’s response reinforces the contentious narrative in his song, while supporters assert that artists have the creative freedom to express themselves, even if it stirs controversy.
