Pepsi Made its First-Ever Condiment

Pepsi, known for being a popular beverage accompaniment to hot dogs, is breaking tradition with its latest creation, “Pepsi Colachup,” a condiment infused with Pepsi.

Developed in collaboration with the Culinary Institute of America, this limited-edition sauce aims to enhance the flavor of hot dogs by incorporating the rich caramel notes and citrusy pop of Pepsi-Cola.

Crafted with a reduction of Pepsi as a base, the sauce combines smoked tomatoes, a blend of spices including cinnamon, thyme, oregano, and paprika, as well as onions and ketchup.

The result is a sweet and citrusy taste that complements the spiciness of a hot dog, according to Jenny Danzi, a senior director at Pepsi.

To celebrate July 4th, a day synonymous with baseball and hot dogs, Pepsi is launching the Colachup sauce exclusively at four US ballparks: Chase Field in Phoenix, Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, Target Field in Minneapolis, and Comerica Park in Detroit.

Those interested can find “sampling carts” at these locations, as the sauce will be available for only one day.

This unique condiment release is part of Pepsi’s ongoing “Better with Pepsi” advertising campaign, which aims to challenge Coca-Cola’s dominance in the beverage market.

Alongside attention-grabbing initiatives like the Colachup, Pepsi has made significant investments in zero sugar beverages, sports drinks, and partnerships, including collaborations with Starbucks for bottled drinks.
