Pepsi Teams Up with DoorDash for Free Pizza Giveaway and Launches High-Speed Stunt Campaign
Pepsi is ramping up its efforts to associate its signature soda with one of America’s favourite takeout meals—pizza. Through a new partnership with DoorDash, the beverage giant is offering consumers the chance to score free pizza from major chains like Little Caesars, Papa Johns, Pizza Hut, and Marco’s Pizza when they order select Pepsi products via the delivery platform.
The promotion, set for Friday, Sept. 13, taps into peak pizza delivery hours, capitalizing on the fact that nearly 43% of pizza orders occur on Fridays. Consumers who meet a minimum purchase requirement between 4-10 p.m. ET will be eligible to win one of the “tens of thousands” of free pizzas available while supplies last.
To boost excitement around the giveaway, Pepsi has also unveiled a humorous stunt campaign, developed in collaboration with BBDO Worldwide. The campaign features “Pepsi Chase Cars”—sleek sports cars decked out in Pepsi branding—racing to ensure that pizza deliveries arrive with the perfect Pepsi pairing. A promotional video showcases pizza drivers being hilariously pursued by these Pepsi cars, much to their confusion. In one scene, a delivery driver dismisses the chase as “some kind of TikTok bullshit” while the customers happily enjoy their Pepsi and pizza.
The stunt campaign is an extension of Pepsi’s ongoing #BetterWithPepsi platform, which encourages consumers to pair the soda with popular foods. Previous campaigns have featured fast-food burgers and cola-infused dishes, but this time, the focus is on the beloved pizza night tradition.
Pepsi’s pizza promotion isn’t the only campaign the brand has launched this month. As part of its broader marketing efforts, the company recently collaborated with Megan Thee Stallion and NFL stars to celebrate the start of the 2024 NFL season and the upcoming release of “Gladiator II.” The mix of giveaways and high-profile campaigns underscores Pepsi’s continued push to engage consumers across different platforms and experiences.
