Pharrell Postpones ‘Something In The Water’ Festival Until Spring 2025
Pharrell Williams has made the difficult decision to delay his Something In The Water festival, originally set for October 2023, pushing the event to April 2025. This announcement came just hours after tickets for the Virginia Beach event went on sale to local residents.
On September 13, Pharrell took to the festival’s social media platforms to explain the reason for the postponement, stating, “It just isn’t ready yet.” He assured fans that when the festival does happen, it will be worth the wait, saying, “This has to be EPIC, and trust me, after this long wait, it will be.”
The sudden announcement left many fans, who were in the middle of purchasing tickets, disappointed. “I won’t lie, I was frustrated because it literally happened as I hit pay,” one fan shared with 13News Now. However, Pharrell promised full refunds to those who already purchased tickets, along with priority access to tickets once the new dates are confirmed.
The festival, which debuted in 2019, has faced several challenges. Its 2020 and 2021 events were canceled due to the pandemic, and in 2022, it moved from Virginia Beach to Washington, D.C., following Pharrell’s dissatisfaction with local officials’ handling of his cousin’s fatal shooting by police. While the festival returned to Virginia Beach in 2023, its final day was canceled due to inclement weather.
In other Pharrell-related news, the music icon revealed in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter that he is no longer in contact with Chad Hugo, his longtime collaborator in The Neptunes. Despite their legal dispute over ownership of their production work, Pharrell expressed nothing but goodwill towards Hugo, saying, “I love him, and I always wish him the absolute best.”
Despite their personal rift, Pharrell confirmed that Hugo will still appear in his upcoming LEGO biopic, Piece By Piece, voicing himself in the film.
