Pete Edochie Confirms Crash of Chioma Chukwuka’s Marriage

Renowned actor Pete Edochie has officially confirmed the separation of his colleague, Chioma Chukwuka Akpota, and her estranged husband. The actress had subtly hinted at the end of her marriage through her social media posts, which all reverted to her maiden name, “Chioma Chukwuka.”

Although rumours about the couple’s separation circulated, Chioma Chukwuka Akpota neither confirmed nor debunked the reports about her marriage. However, in an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Pete Edochie expressed his disapproval of the increasing number of divorces in the Nollywood industry.

The veteran actor was taken aback by the news of Chukwuka’s broken marriage and emphasized the significance of understanding that marriage is a commitment for better or worse. He voiced his concern about the trend in the industry, where several actresses who got married two to three years ago have already separated from their husbands, including Ireti Doyle and Tonto Dikeh.

Edochie stressed the importance of upholding the marriage vows and not giving up when faced with challenges. He noted that many people mistakenly think that the grass is greener on the other side, leading them to walk away from their marriage commitments.

He said: “If you come to our Industry today, most of our ladies who got married two to three years ago have all left their husbands.

“I was shocked that Chioma Chukwuka had left her husband, Ireti Doyle, Tonto Dikeh.

“You take a vow when you are going to get married for better or worse, not for better or out.

“You will always think it’s greener on the other side.

“That is the mistake we all make.”

During the interview, Edochie also spoke about some of the actresses who portrayed his daughters in movies.

He expressed a special fondness for Genevieve Nnaji, lauding her exceptional brilliance and talent. The veteran actor considers Nnaji as his own daughter, and she sees him as a father figure.

However, Edochie mentioned that he hasn’t heard from her lately and has heard rumours of her facing some mental challenges. He expressed hope that she is doing well and that they would reconnect in the future.

He said: “Of all the girls who had played my daughter in films, somehow it is Genevieve Nnaji I love most.

“I look at her as my daughter and she also sees me as a father.

“She is an exceptionally brilliant lady.

“I have not heard of her lately ever since.

“I heard she is a little disturbed mentally.

“I don’t know whether it is true or false.

“I hope that one day she calls me and says I am ok.”

Pete Edochie’s candid remarks about the challenges in marriages within the entertainment industry shed light on the importance of commitment and perseverance in sustaining relationships. As the news of Chioma Chukwuka Akpota’s separation becomes official, fans and colleagues continue to send their support and well wishes during this challenging time.
