Portable Regains Freedom from Ilorin Correctional Centre After Petition Withdrawal

Nigerian street-hop artist, Badmus Abeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, was released from the Ilorin correctional centre on Tuesday following a withdrawal of the petition against him by Fuji musician Saheed Osupa.

The controversial singer, who had been in custody since Monday, was granted bail after authorities at the Oke-Kura custodial facility approved a variation of his bail conditions. He was freed at about 3:30 p.m., with two of his wives present at the facility to welcome him.

Sources within the prison confirmed that Portable had his signature multi-coloured hair shaved clean prior to his release. It was also disclosed that he had his first meal on Tuesday morning after reportedly refusing food since his incarceration.

Portable was initially arrested in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Saturday and transported to Ilorin by officers of the Kwara State Police Command. He faced allegations of criminal intimidation, defamation, and threats to life stemming from a dispute with Saheed Osupa.

With the petition now withdrawn and the case seemingly diffused, Portable’s release marks the latest chapter in the artist’s string of legal run-ins and headline-making antics.
