The discussion took place at the City Of Hope red carpet event in Los Angeles, where Redman had an exchange with Jeremy Hecht of HipHopDX. Redman, at 53 years old, emphasized the complexity and depth that go into his rhymes. He explained, “When I’m sitting down, actually orchestrating a rhyme, I really go into different dimensions of rhyming and word patterns and shit. It’s real intricate.” He went on to acknowledge Eminem as another artist with a similar intricate approach to crafting lyrics.

Earlier this year, Eminem revisited his list of greatest rappers of all time, solidifying Redman’s position at the top. In July, Eminem was spotted wearing a T-shirt featuring Redman’s famous “’Till I Collapse” lyrics, reiterating his respect for the New Jersey-native rapper. Eminem’s list, famously rapped in his 2002 track, puts Redman as his top choice, followed by JAY-Z, 2Pac, and The Notorious B.I.G. The gesture delighted Redman, who announced the availability of these T-shirts in collaboration with the NYC-based skateboarding store Richmond Hood.
The admiration between Eminem and Redman has been mutual. In 2015, Eminem expressed his respect for Redman during a conversation on Shade 45. He shared an anecdote from an earlier visit to New York when he had the chance to meet Redman. Redman reciprocated the sentiment, stating, “You’re one of my favorite artists, too. Keep doing what you’re doing and you’ve got my support over here, brother.”
