Report: Kane Pushing to Join Bayern as Spurs Turn Down Initial £60M Bid

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is pushing to join Bayern Munich after holding positive talks with the club over a potential big-money transfer, The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg reports.

Spurs reportedly rejected Bayern’s opening £60-million offer for Kane on Tuesday and signaled they won’t accept less than £100 million for their leading scorer. They also haven’t yet given up hope of signing the 29-year-old to a new contract.

However, with Kane at risk of leaving on a free transfer when his contract expires in June 2024, the north London side could consider a sale this summer.

Manchester United and Real Madrid have also been linked with England’s all-time leading scorer this summer. However, United reportedly withdrew from negotiations due to Tottenham’s demands.

Losing Kane on a free transfer next summer would deal a massive blow to chairman Daniel Levy’s already shattered reputation among supporters. The chairman has come under heavy criticism over a lack of investment in the playing squad, with the club also facing £853 million in gross debt thanks to loans taken out to build Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Even with Spurs finishing in eighth place last season, Kane scored a remarkable 30 league goals.
