Roy Keane Jokes Erik ten Hag Should ‘Resign Tonight’ After Joining Manchester United Stars in Funny Dance

Roy Keane joked Erik ten Hag should resign as Manchester United boss for joining players Antony and Lisandro Martinez in a dance at the Carabao Cup final.

The Red Devils won their first piece of silverware since 2017 in Ten Hag’s first campaign in charge after arriving from Ajax as they ran out 2-0 winners against Newcastle.

As the two former Ajax players danced in front of the celebrating fans draped in their national flags, Ten Hag could not resist joining in.

It was a touching moment for the former Ajax trio, who performed the same dance during their time together in the Netherlands after winning the Eredivisie last season.

While speaking to Sky Sports, the clip of Ten Hag dancing was shown again and Roy Keane could not help but make a joke you’d expect from him.

Keane said “You should resign after that. You should resign tonight!”

Ten Hag replied: “Never! Never! I have done it before, we have a history with that.”
Fellow Sky Sports guest David Ginola interjected, saying: “That is just Roy Keane saying that, don’t worry.”

Both of United’s goals came in the first half, the first a bullet header from Casemiro and the second an own goal by Sven Botman as Marcus Rashford’s strike deflected off the defender.

While the Magpies had more possession, they only had one shot on target against David de Gea, who had a comfortable afternoon.

And while the Toon Army never stopped singing, and will likely not until the early hours, this is a momentous occasion for United and Ten Hag.

The Dutchman appears to have struck gold this year with a winning formula that has seen them skyrocket.

While they cannot be discounted from a title race in the Premier League as they sit eight points behind Arsenal makes winning it unlikely.

But remarkable progress has been shown and winning the Carabao Cup is a fine piece of evidence for that.

The Red Devils have lost just once this calendar year and defeated Barcelona in the Europa League earlier this week. The Carabao Cup victory also keeps the slim hope of a quadruple on with one trophy in the bag and the FA Cup, Premier League and Europa League all up for grabs.
It appears that the only way is up for United right now while manager Ten Hag has won plenty of admirers.

That includes former captain Roy Keane, who said he hoped this was the beginning of a new era at Old Trafford.

He said on Sky Sports: “You look at the players’ reaction and the supporters. They were desperate for success.

“All the build up was about Newcastle and their wait but five, six years for Manchester United seems a long time.

“They deserved their victory. They were efficient and scored two good goals.

“Hopefully it is the start of the good days coming back to United.”
