Ruger Reveals He Started His Music Career in Church Choir
Nigerian Afrobeats star Ruger has revealed that his musical journey began in the church choir, where he honed his vocal abilities.
Speaking on a recent episode of Apple Music’s Africa Now, the Bounce hitmaker credited his early years in the choir for shaping his unique sound.
While Ruger is widely recognized for his distinct style, he admitted that he rarely showcases his full vocal range in his recorded songs. However, fans who have attended his live performances have had the opportunity to appreciate his vocal depth.
“Only people who have experienced me perform live have had the opportunity to enjoy my vocals. Even in my music, I don’t necessarily show it off,” he shared.
Ruger added that his favorite moments as an artist come during live performances, as they allow him the creative freedom to experiment with his songs.
“I started from the choir. I know how to sing, especially when it is a song that resonates deeply with me,” he said.
The singer’s revelation has sparked conversations among fans, with many eager to see him explore his vocal abilities more in future releases.
