Sacramento Kings All-Star Suffers Fractured Finger

The Sacramento Kings are currently n the midst of their first-round playoff series against the Golden State Warriors and they will play Game 5 on Wednesday night in Sacramento with the series tied at 2-2.

However, they may have to play this game without their star player, as De’Aaron Fox suffered a fractured index finger in his left shooting hand in Game 4 against the Warriors on Sunday, first reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

According to Charania, Fox sustained the injury in the middle of the fourth quarter on Sunday and played through the pain. Fox ended up finishing Game 4 with 38 points, nine rebounds and five assists, almost leading the Kings to a come from behind victory and a 3-1 series lead.

Now, this series has completely flipped in favor of the Warriors with Game 5 set to be played in Wednesday night in Sacramento, as De’Aaron Fox is listed as doubtful.

However, there is still a glimmer of hope that the Kings All-Star point guard will be able to try and play, as ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that Fox is going to do what he can to try and play.

While he will be listed as “doubtful,” there is a sense of hope, according to Wojnarowski, that Fox will try and play with a protective covering on his injured index finger.

At this time, the Kings have not given any updates on Fox’s status.

Should De’Aaron Fox missed Game 5 against Golden State, the Warriors will surely be heavily favored to take a 3-2 series lead and advance past Sacramento in Game 6, a game that will be played in San Francisco.

Through the first four games of this series, De’Aaron Fox has been very special, averaging 31.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game while shooting 44.7 percent from the floor and 34.2 percent from three-point range.

Replacing Fox will be impossible for head coach Mike Brown and the Kings, so his status will be monitored closely by the NBA world leading up to Game 5 on Wednesday.
