Selena Gomez Creates First-Ever Oreo Flavour Inspired by Horchata
Global pop star and entrepreneur Selena Gomez has teamed up with Oreo to create a brand-new cookie flavor – a first-of-its-kind for the 113-year-old brand.
The limited-edition flavor, inspired by Gomez’s love for horchata – a sweet cinnamon-infused drink popular in many Latin cultures – features a rich blend of chocolate and cinnamon crème mixed with sweetened condensed milk. This unique filling is sandwiched between chocolate-cinnamon wafers and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar for an indulgent, sweet-and-spiced experience.
The collaboration marks several historic firsts for Oreo. Not only is this the brand’s debut horchata-inspired flavor, but the cookies also feature six different wafer designs, including Gomez’s signature and the word “Selenators” – a nod to her devoted fanbase. It’s the first time an Oreo cookie has ever included a celebrity autograph.
“Making my own Oreo cookie was a lot of fun,” Gomez said in a statement. “I grew up loving them, so being able to be a part of the process was a full-circle moment.”
The flavor has been in development for 18 months, according to Oreo’s U.S. vice president Michelle Deignan, who said the team explored several iterations before settling on a version that resonated most with Gomez.
Set to debut online in the U.S. on June 2, the cookies will hit major retailers across the country a week later, followed by an international release in countries such as Canada, Brazil, Australia, and New Zealand.
Oreo’s latest collaboration follows successful partnerships with other artists like Lady Gaga and Post Malone. These strategic alliances are part of the brand’s effort to stay relevant with Gen Z consumers and boost engagement in a competitive snack market. Gomez’s massive global influence – she boasts 420 million followers on Instagram – made her an ideal partner for the campaign.
Gomez, who also founded the billion-dollar cosmetics brand Rare Beauty, continues to make waves beyond the entertainment industry, and this partnership adds another creative milestone to her growing portfolio.
