Sexyy Red Addresses Deadly Shooting Near Music Video Shoot, Denies Connection

Rising artist Sexyy Red recently released a statement concerning the tragic shooting incident that occurred near the location of her music video shoot. On Thursday night (September 14), gunfire erupted near the Oakland Park Flea Market Mall in Florida, resulting in one fatality and another individual injured, as reported by Local 10.

The shooting incident unfolded just before 8 p.m. at the intersection of Northwest 31st Avenue and Oakland Park Boulevard. Broward Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Gerdy St. Louis confirmed that deputies arrived at the scene to find two victims with apparent gunshot wounds. Tragically, one person was pronounced dead on-site, while the other was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The incident occurred in close proximity to where Sexyy Red and Sukihana were filming a music video. Local authorities are currently investigating whether the shooting is connected to the video shoot.

In the early hours of Friday morning (September 15), Sexyy Red took to social media to address the tragic event, expressing her condolences to the victims’ families. She clarified that the shooting did not technically occur on her video set.

She stated on her Instagram Stories, “I send my condolences to the family of the man who lost his life and prayers up for the person who was wounded. But I gotta address the rumours that it happened at my video shoot because it’s not true, at all.”

Sexyy Red continued, “To be clear, it happened at a gas station across the street from my video set. Florida Highway Patrol and Broward County Sheriff confirmed that the shooting wasn’t on my set.”

She emphasized her commitment to safety, mentioning her production team’s efforts to ensure a secure environment, stating, “We finished the shoot at a different location, and everyone from our set went home safely. Period.”

The artist is currently working on her upcoming single “Shake Ya Dreadz,” which has already gained popularity on TikTok. While no arrests have been confirmed by authorities, witnesses reported seeing deputies taking two individuals into custody near the intersection of Broward Boulevard and Northwest 27th Avenue.
