Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar and Drake

Snoop Dogg Applauds Kendrick Lamar and Drake for Elevating Lyricism Amid Rap Feud

Snoop Dogg has voiced his support for Kendrick Lamar and Drake amid their recent feud, praising the rap titans for reviving the art of lyricism in Hip Hop.

While promoting his role in The Garfield Movie during an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Snoop commended both artists for their contributions to the genre through their high-profile beef.

“Well, the only thing I want to say about that whole scenario is that I want to give both of them a shout-out for raising the bar as far as lyrics, as far as song-making and writing because the writing has been upped since the confrontation,” Snoop remarked.

He added, “Those are my nephews. I’m not in the middle of it. I support both of them and that’s personal business, not my business.”

Snoop highlighted the positive impact the feud has had on the industry, stating, “As far as what they did for the industry and the rap game, they made you rap again. You can’t mumble your way and gimmick your way to a song no more, buddy. So thank y’all.”

The Long Beach legend was inadvertently drawn into the conflict after Drake used AI technology to mimic Snoop’s voice for a diss track titled “Taylor Made Freestyle.” The track, which targeted Kendrick Lamar, was removed following legal threats from 2Pac’s estate.

In the song, a computer-generated Snoop rapped: “Dot, you know that the D-O-G never fucking doubted you/ But right now it seem like you posted up without a clue of what the fuck you ’bout to do.”

Following the release of the track, Snoop shared a humorous reaction on social media. “They did what? When? How? Are you sure? [Sigh] Y’all have a good night,” he said in an Instagram clip. “Why everybody calling my phone, blowing me up? What the fuck— what happened? What’s going on? I’m going back to bed. Good night.”

Snoop’s reaction stirred mixed responses among fans. Some believed he co-signed “Taylor Made Freestyle” when he reposted it on his Instagram Stories with the caption: “90s Hip Hop Forever.” Others were skeptical, considering Snoop’s longstanding relationship with Kendrick, which includes several collaborations and a joint performance at the Super Bowl.

The feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake has not only captivated the rap community but also underscored the enduring importance of lyrical prowess in Hip Hop, a sentiment that Snoop Dogg enthusiastically endorses.
