Speed Darlington and Lawyer Part Ways Amid Legal Turmoil
Embattled Nigerian singer Speed Darlington has officially parted ways with his lawyer, Stan Alieke, following weeks of legal drama.
In a statement shared via Instagram, Alieke, representing Law Capitol, announced the end of his professional relationship with the artist, whose real name is Darlington Achakpo.
“I and my law firm (Law Capitol) have officially withdrawn from legally representing Mr. Darlington Achakpo PKA Speed Darlington/Akpi and cease to act as his legal attorneys,” Alieke wrote in an Instagram story.
The separation comes less than a week after Speed Darlington was released from extended detention at Kuje Prison, where he had been held for two months.
Background on Detention
Speed Darlington’s imprisonment stemmed from allegations of cyberstalking fellow musician Burna Boy. During his detention, Alieke accused Burna Boy of influencing the case by allegedly paying law enforcement to prolong Darlington’s stay behind bars.
The split between the artist and his lawyer adds a new layer of complexity to the ongoing saga, leaving questions about how Speed Darlington plans to navigate his legal challenges moving forward.
