Spotify Celebrates 10th Anniversary of Wizkid’s Iconic Track ‘Ojuelegba’
Music streaming giant Spotify has honoured the 10th anniversary of Wizkid’s groundbreaking single “Ojuelegba,” highlighting its enduring influence in the global Afrobeats movement. Released in 2014, the song has accumulated over 55 million streams on Spotify, solidifying its place as one of Afrobeats’ most iconic tracks.
In a statement on Tuesday, Phiona Okumu, Spotify’s Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa, praised the track’s role in elevating African music on the global stage.
“‘Ojuelegba’ helped define the global rise of Afrobeats and continues to resonate with millions of listeners worldwide,” she said, adding that the song has been streamed most in the United States, United Kingdom, Netherlands, France, and Nigeria.
With its widespread acclaim, “Ojuelegba” has cemented Wizkid’s legacy as one of Africa’s most influential artists, and the track remains a symbol of the genre’s growing international presence.
