Starlink Rolls Back Price Increase in Nigeria, Promises Refunds to Affected Customers
Starlink, the satellite internet service led by billionaire Elon Musk, has reversed its recent price increase in Nigeria, responding to widespread customer criticism. The company also announced it will issue refunds to those charged at the higher rate.
The initial price hike drew significant backlash from Nigerian users, who argued the increase added to their financial burdens amid the country’s rising inflation. Starlink addressed the issue in a recent statement, explaining that the price increase was intended to help sustain operations and maintain service quality in the face of inflation. However, it decided to suspend the increase temporarily to address “regulatory challenges.”
“If you’ve already been charged at the higher rate, a one-time credit will be applied to your account to cover the difference,” the company stated. “You also have the flexibility to cancel your service at any time.”
The price rollback has been widely welcomed by Nigerians, who appreciate the move for making Starlink’s high-speed internet services more affordable during challenging economic times.
