Taylor Swift Reflects on “Lonely” Writing Process for Folklore Album

During a recent concert in Melbourne, Australia, Taylor Swift shared insights into her creative process while writing her 2020 album “Folklore,” revealing feelings of loneliness during the COVID-19 lockdowns.

The 34-year-old pop star candidly described her writing environment, humorously painting a picture of herself as a “lonely millennial woman covered in cat hair,” contrasting with her imaginative portrayal of a ghostly Victorian lady writing with a quill on parchment.

Despite the isolation, Swift channeled her emotions into her music, drawing inspiration from her experiences during the pandemic and her relationship with actor Joe Alwyn, whom she dated at the time. The couple parted ways in 2023 after a six-year relationship, and Swift is now dating NFL player Travis Kelce.

Swift recently supported Kelce at the Super Bowl in Las Vegas, where his team, the Kansas City Chiefs, emerged victorious. The pair shared a romantic moment at an afterparty, with Kelce joining the DJ booth to sing along to Swift’s 2008 hit “You Belong With Me.”

Reflecting on the magical moment with friends, Swift expressed disbelief at the romantic gesture, while Kelce revealed the near-miss timing of his arrival on the dance floor, adding to the spontaneity of the occasion.

Swift’s openness about her creative process offers fans a glimpse into the personal experiences and emotions that shape her music, resonating with audiences worldwide.
