Tems Addresses Pregnancy Rumours, Questions Link to Future: “Why Not Wizkid or Drake?”
Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, better known as Tems, has responded to rumours circulating about her being pregnant for American rapper Future. The speculation arose after she appeared at Burberry’s Spring/Summer 2024 London Fashion Week show last December, wearing a form-fitting black dress paired with a purple coat. Many speculated her outfit hinted at a pregnancy.
In a recent appearance on The Breakfast Club, Tems addressed the rumours, expressing confusion over why Future was singled out. “Why am I pregnant for Future? Why Future?” she questioned, pointing out the randomness of the claim. “Why not Wizkid? Why not Drake? Why not somebody else? If it was Drake, it would still be a thing, but the reason it’s Future is because of his reputation.”
Tems went on to reference Future’s widely known image as a ladies’ man, with multiple children from different relationships. She noted that this reputation likely fueled the rumours.
The singer, who gained international recognition after being featured on Drake’s 2021 album Certified Lover Boy, also highlighted some of her musical influences during the interview. She credited top rappers like Lil Wayne, Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, Andre 3000, Drake, and J.Cole as key inspirations in her career.
J.Cole, who was one of the two featured artists on her debut album Born in the Wild, has collaborated with Tems as she continues to rise in the global music scene.
