Spyro Alleges Ubi Franklin Scammed Him of $5,000 Using Davido’s Name

Singer Spyro has accused music executive Ubi Franklin of defrauding him of $5,000 under the guise of a performance request from popular artist Davido. The accusation was made during an interview on the Echoroom podcast, where Spyro recounted the incident that took place during a trip to Ghana for Iyanya’s birthday celebration.

According to Spyro, Franklin invited him to the event and later claimed there would be performances at the party. Despite Spyro’s initial reluctance, he said Franklin insisted the performance was requested by Davido and promised to pay $5,000. Spyro, who stated his usual fee is N20 million, agreed to perform after consulting with his management. However, at the venue, Franklin allegedly pressured him to go on stage immediately after Davido’s set, leaving Spyro with little choice but to comply.

Following the performance, Spyro claimed that Franklin refused to address the agreed payment and ignored him after they returned to Lagos. Efforts to resolve the matter, including involving Pastor Bolaji, reportedly failed. Spyro expressed his frustration, accusing Franklin of exploiting him and warning other artists to be cautious.

Spyro stated that Franklin advised him not to contact Davido, revealing that the request to perform had not come from the superstar. “It’s painful to be taken advantage of,” Spyro said. “He goes around scamming people of their money. I’m saying this to protect other artists who may fall victim to this.”

As of now, Franklin has not publicly responded to the allegations.
