Tension on Set as Actor Femi Branch Prevented from Leaving After Alleged Assault
Veteran Nollywood actor Femi Branch was reportedly blocked from leaving a film location after allegedly assaulting the assistant director during a heated confrontation.
A video that surfaced online shows the actor attempting to exit the premises, only to be stopped at the gate by security personnel and other crew members. Voices in the background can be heard insisting that Branch could not leave until he returned to complete his scenes.
“You can’t leave here until you go back to finish the remaining shooting,” one person said in the clip, which has now gone viral.
In the video, Branch appeared visibly angry, directing his frustration at the director. “Did I have business with you? Are you the one that called me on this set? Did you bring me here to insult me or what is the meaning of this?” he asked.
The director responded calmly, urging the actor to proceed with filming. However, the exchange quickly escalated.
“You don’t have control of your set,” Branch snapped, refusing to cooperate. The director replied, “You slapped somebody on my set. Was I not the one you slapped? Oga, no problem, you have done your own.”
Branch then turned his ire on the estate’s security team, accusing them of unlawfully detaining him and threatening to escalate the matter. “You people are blocking me from driving out, right? I swear to God, I will report you to the management for locking me inside your estate. You must explain your business with our location.”
As of the time of this report, neither Branch nor the film’s production team has issued an official statement. The incident has sparked mixed reactions online, with many calling for an investigation into the matter and better conflict management practices on Nigerian film sets.
