Timaya Opens Up on Remaining Unmarried Despite Career Success
Nigerian singer Timaya has shared insights into why he has chosen to remain unmarried despite his flourishing music career.
In an interview with Naija FM, Timaya revealed that marriage has never been a personal aspiration, though he hasn’t entirely ruled out the possibility of settling down in the future.
“I’ve never been the marrying type, but that could change. Marriage? It’s stressful. I always wonder, if I get married, will I be able to walk away if it doesn’t work? In all my past relationships, I left because I don’t like stress,” the singer explained.
Timaya attributed his reluctance towards marriage to his preference for a stress-free life and his strong desire for personal freedom. He highlighted the importance of open communication in any relationship, stating, “If there’s an issue, let’s address it immediately. I don’t like going to bed with unresolved matters—it weighs on me.”
On fatherhood, Timaya revealed that while his children live with their respective mothers, they share a close bond. He frequently spends quality time with his children, who often visit him for extended periods.
Despite not being romantically involved with the mothers of his children, Timaya emphasised that their relationship remains respectful and harmonious. He also acknowledged that while fatherhood can be demanding, it is a rewarding experience.
