I’m 50 Times Bigger Than Asake – Blaqbonez
Nigerian rapper Emeka Akumefule, widely known as Blaqbonez, has sparked a debate by declaring himself significantly more successful than Grammy-nominated artist Asake.
The claim emerged as Blaqbonez responded to a resurfaced 2019 tweet from Asake, who at the time was an aspiring artist, requesting a follow-back on social media.
Adding fuel to the conversation, a user on X (formerly Twitter) with the handle @thejacobsss weighed in, suggesting it was laughable to consider Asake a bigger artist than Blaqbonez. “Asake is big, but saying he’s bigger than Blaqbonez is pure comedy walai,” the post read.
Blaqbonez agreed, making the audacious claim: “Like people are funny. I’m 50x bigger. I sold out the O2 Arena in 1 minute; it took him longer.”
However, this assertion has been met with scepticism. While Asake has twice sold out the iconic O2 Arena in London, there is no record of Blaqbonez achieving a similar feat.
The exchange has stirred discussion among fans and industry watchers about the metrics of success in the music industry and the competitive nature of Nigeria’s vibrant music scene.
