Tina Turner’s Hometown Planning Statue of Late Star

Tina Turner’s hometown, Brownsville, Tennessee, is making plans to erect a statue in honor of the late superstar.

The 83-year-old singer recently passed away at her home in Switzerland from natural causes. Bill Rawls Jr., the mayor of Brownsville, expressed his desire to unveil a permanent memorial for Tina, emphasizing her commanding stage presence.

He aims to capture her passion and serve as an inspiration to the world, highlighting the message that regardless of one’s origins, they have the power to shape their own destiny.
The statue is intended to be placed in Brownsville’s Heritage Park, near Carver High School, where Tina attended.

Notably, Brownsville is also home to the Tina Turner Museum, further commemorating the legendary artist’s ties to the community.

While Tina’s funeral will be a private affair, limited to family and close friends, she enjoyed immense popularity and adoration both globally and in Switzerland, her adopted country.
Despite this, the farewell ceremony will remain intimate and personal.

Tina Turner’s life was marked by various health challenges, including a stroke, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) from her abusive marriage to Ike Turner, and ongoing kidney problems.
In 2017, her husband Erwin Bach donated one of his kidneys to save her life.

Previously known as Anna Mae Bullock, Tina renounced her US citizenship a decade ago and became a Swiss citizen.

She moved to Switzerland in 2013, shortly after marrying Erwin.
