Tory Lanez Moved to Supermax Prison After Loner Existence at Medium-Security Facility

Tory Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, has been transferred to a super-maximum security prison in California after a previous stint at North Kern State Prison. According to court reporter Meghann Cuniff, the rapper is now held at the California Correctional Institute in Tehachapi, California.

Earlier reports had suggested that Lanez was moved to the general population at North Kern State Prison. However, Cuniff clarified the situation on October 13, confirming that Lanez was, in fact, relocated to the California Correctional Institute, a state supermax prison in Tehachapi, situated approximately 85 miles southeast of Kern.

Cuniff emphasized that the “general population” at this supermax facility differs from general population conditions in other prisons. Tory Lanez’s legal team had previously advocated for his placement in general population at North Kern, allowing him to have a more “normal” prison experience with interactions with other inmates.

Reports had surfaced indicating that Lanez was leading a secluded life behind bars due to his confinement in “Administrative Segregation” due to his celebrity status. Tory Lanez was convicted in the shooting incident involving Megan Thee Stallion in July 2020, resulting in a 10-year prison sentence. He is currently working on an appeal, and his legal team recently filed a motion for bail. However, Meghann Cuniff speculated that bail would likely not be granted, as the motion closely resembled one that had been rejected in the past.

The motion did not mention residential rehab for alcoholism, which Lanez had previously acknowledged, but instead requested house arrest in an “exotic home” in Los Angeles.
