Tyla Condemns Bullying of Miss SA Finalist Chidimma Adetshina Amid Nationality Controversy

South African Grammy-winning artist Tyla has spoken out against the bullying faced by Chidimma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina, a Miss South Africa finalist who recently withdrew from the competition following intense scrutiny over her nationality.

Adetshina, a model with Nigerian and Mozambican roots, became the subject of a heated nationality debate in July after advancing to the Top 16 in the Miss South Africa beauty pageant. Despite making it to the Top 11, she decided to exit the competition after the South African Department of Home Affairs raised allegations that her mother may have been involved in fraud and identity theft.

Expressing her disappointment, Tyla criticized the treatment Adetshina received. The singer asserted that the model was effectively bullied out of the contest. Sharing the news of Adetshina’s withdrawal on X, Tyla wrote, “Disappointed that this happened to her, but wish you all the best girl. Kill it!” She added, “I will always stand with South Africa, I just feel regardless of the opinions… She was bullied and that’s what I don’t stand for.”

In the wake of the controversy, Miss Universe Nigeria has extended an invitation to Adetshina to participate in their pageant. However, Adetshina has yet to respond to the offer.
