Tyrese Responds to Ex-Wife’s Statements About Their Divorce
Recent comments made by Samantha Lee, Tyrese’s ex-wife, regarding their divorce, have prompted a response from the renowned singer and actor. In a podcast interview with Hardly Initiated, Lee provided insight into their highly publicized separation, expressing remorse for the choices made during that tumultuous period.
During the interview, Lee revealed her emotional vulnerability at the time of their divorce, confessing, “I was not in any position to make that decision. I was extremely emotionally intoxicated. We can be intoxicated with our emotions, and I’m very much emotionally led.”
Lee further acknowledged that she would not advise anyone to make such life-altering decisions while in an emotionally charged state. However, she made it clear that her counsel was not received by someone who genuinely believed in marriage or reconciliation.
Tyrese, in response to Lee’s statements, conducted an Instagram Live session in which he disputed her claims about their marriage. He highlighted their shared experiences as children of divorce and accused her of harbouring financial motivations.
The multi-talented artist also questioned her assertion that external influences played a role in her choices, asserting that her sole influence was her mother, Patricia Randolph. Tyrese further contended that Lee’s pursuit of child support, specifically seeking $20,000 a month for the support of their 5-year-old daughter, was indicative of her true intentions. He argued that she already earned a substantial income of $160,000 annually independently.
The couple separated in 2020, with Tyrese being ordered to pay a considerable amount in monthly child support. The size of these payments led to speculation that Lee may have married him for financial gain, a belief that Tyrese himself holds.
In September, Lee addressed these claims during an Instagram Live session, vehemently denying any monetary motivation. She emphasized her love for Tyrese and the fact that their divorce trial extended over almost three years. Tyrese contested her statements in a since-deleted Instagram post, characterizing her as a gold-digger, gaslighter, narcissist, and manipulator.
