Ugo Ugochukwu Makes History with Macau Grand Prix and FIA FR World Cup Wins

Seventeen-year-old Ugo Ugochukwu has cemented his place in motorsport history, becoming the first Nigerian-American to win the prestigious Macau Grand Prix in over 40 years. The young racing prodigy followed up this historic achievement by clinching the 2024 FIA Formula Regional (FR) World Cup title, marking a defining moment in his burgeoning career.

Representing R-ace GP, Ugo delivered a commanding performance, leading the race from start to finish. His competitors, Olivier Goethe of MP Motorsport and Noel León of KCMG IXO by Pinnacle Motorsport, trailed behind as Ugo showcased both skill and determination.

Speaking after his victory, an elated Ugo reflected on the race and the effort it required:

“I can’t describe the feeling—of course, I’m super happy. It was quite a tricky race, I was pushing the whole way, but I was confident in the pace. Ever since Q2, we’ve been really quick. We won the Quali race as well, but there was still one more thing to do, which was win the main race, and we managed to do it. I can’t thank the R-ace GP team enough. We had a great weekend, and I’m super happy to finally get the job done.”

Born to Nigerian supermodel Oluchi Onweagba and Italian fashion designer Luca Orlandi, Ugo’s diverse heritage adds another layer of pride to his accomplishments. Often compared to legendary British racer Lewis Hamilton, Ugo is carving his own path and emerging as a trailblazer for representation in motorsport.

With this double victory, Ugo has firmly positioned himself as a rising star in the racing world, inspiring a new generation of drivers and fans alike.
