UK Music Scene Sad, Run by Cabals – Skepta
British Grime artist Skepta has voiced his frustration with the state of the UK music industry, describing it as divided and controlled by exclusive groups. The rapper, known for his hit “Big Smoke,” shared his disappointment on social media, calling the current state of the scene “sad” and heavily influenced by labels and internal cliques.
“The UK music scene is sad. Smallest, most segregated, label-run, crabs in a barrel scene of all scenes smh,” Skepta wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
Skepta, born Joseph Junior Adenuga to Nigerian parents, is recognized as a key figure in shaping the Grime genre. Despite his significant influence, the rapper’s remarks highlight ongoing concerns about the structure and inclusivity of the British music industry.
