VeryDarkMan Speaks Out After Disappearance Sparks Concern: “My Mind Is Messed Up”

Nigerian social media commentator and activist, VeryDarkMan, has finally addressed growing concerns about his sudden disappearance from the digital space, revealing that he has been deeply affected by the recent spate of violent killings in parts of the country.

The online personality had gone silent for two days, prompting his elder brother, Mark Otse, to publicly request prayers on his behalf. In a video shared via Instagram on Sunday, Mark expressed worry over his brother’s wellbeing, stating, “This is so difficult for real. I don’t know how to say this right now… All I want you to do is to pray for VeryDarkMan.”

The emotional appeal sparked widespread speculation online about the outspoken critic’s condition and safety.

Responding on Monday, VeryDarkMan explained that his silence was not due to any physical harm, but rather the mental toll of researching and reflecting on the ongoing violence in Nigeria’s Middle Belt region.

“I really wish everyone can understand. I haven’t been able to post in the last few hours because my mind is still messed up,” he wrote on social media. “The killings involving herdsmen and farmers is too much. For the past five days, I haven’t been able to sleep. I’ve been asking questions, doing research to understand what the real problem is.”

He referenced recurring incidents of violence in Benue and Plateau states, noting that despite years of similar attacks, the government’s response has remained predictable and ineffective.

“Same style, same format, same reaction—protests, visits by security chiefs—it’s all the same. The question isn’t ‘when does it stop?’ but ‘how does it stop?’” he wrote. “My mind is messed up in thoughts that I can’t explain.”

VeryDarkMan concluded his message by wishing his followers a peaceful Sunday and thanking them for their concern. His post has since drawn hundreds of comments from fans and supporters expressing relief at his safety and encouraging him to take the time he needs to recover mentally.
